Kauai Island

Kaua'i is known as the Garden Island and the island of Great Outdoors. Visitors to Kaua'i can discover the unspoiled landscape by land, air or sea with so many recreational choices including diving, boating, fishing, snorkelling, surfing, scenic heli tours as well as hiking and cycling. Kauai's central peak, Mt Waialeale is considered to be the wettest place on earth and as a result the island is beautifully lush and green. The natural beauty of Kaua'i offers great hikes with the Kalalau Trail one of Hawaii's most stunning.

Kaua'i is the most northerly of the Hawaiian Islands, and also the oldest of the islands. This is a special island filled with lush vegetation, steep cliffs, vast canyons and beautiful coral reefs, and as such is the ideal island for nature lovers and those with a love of the outdoors.

In the north of the island, the legendary Na Pali coast has some of the world's highest cliffs and most rewarding hiking. Kauai is famous for day hikes, kayaking and endless kilometres of beautiful beaches where visitors to the island can swim, snorkel and dive from. In summer, Kauai also has some great surf beaches on the south coast and during winter surfs up on the north coast.

On the east side of Kauai, is the island's largest city Lihue and the three smaller towns of Wailua, Waipouli and Kapaa. These towns offer a variety of Hawaiian accommodation including apartments, hotels and resorts. Many travellers to Kauai choose to stay on the East side of the island and it is a convenient base for exploring the river valleys of the North Shore and the beautiful beaches of the south.

There is much to do on Kauai - some of the top attractions include a visit to Hanalei Valley lookout just beyond Princeville for a bird's eye view the valley and taro fields. Or take a boat trip or scenic heli flight to view the magical Na Pali coastline. The ''garden isle' of Kaua'i will present you with some of the world's most stunning natural beauty.
