Hawaii is an archipelago of hundreds of islands formed from volcanic activity. The islands are spread over two and a half thousand kilometres with the 8 major islands located in the South East.
Maui is the second biggest island with the highest point at 3055 metres and a population of 117,644.
Hawaii was admitted in to the United States Of America on August 21 in 1959 and became the USA's 50th state.
